A few days ago Anna G, our newest recruit to Odalisque(!) sent me a photo she had found and thought of me. It was a photography of a painting by artist George Hendrik Breitner. The painting was a portrait of a young girl wearing a red kimono. I have a strong fascination for Japanese and Chinese vintage and one of my favorite dresses is a big red kimono.
George Hendrik Breitner was a painter and a photographer living during the end of the 18th century until mid 19th century, he was originally from the Netherlands and a member of the group called Tachtigers. He met and worked with Vincent van Gogh and called himself “le peintre du peuple”.
