The Beauty Essentials for June

Written by Yasmine M

The first month of summer is here. To embrace it, I have combined some of the best news from skin, hair, scent and makeup prep this June. The products to help to create that effortless sun kissed look with focus on protection and glow.

Cloud & Glow's Butterfly Gua Sha
Cloud & Glow's Butterfly Gua Sha is made from 100% natural Rose Quartz. This design is a bit different from the Gua Sha I have used in history, I am not sure how it came about. But what I realized was that it actually was much nicer for my neck. It relieves tension from muscles, and it’s easier to use around your jaw and neck – and don’t hurt.  Gua Sha’s are famous to increase blood circulation to your face, and promotes lymphatic drainage.

In addition to help with puffiness.  Apply your favorite serum or moisturizer and massage the Gua Sha in an upward motion, working from your neck toward the forehead. Find it here.

Olaplex No. 9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum
The Olaplex No. 9 is a leave-in styling product that protects your hair from heat and pollution. I’ve been testing No. 9 for about 3 weeks, and similar to all Olaplex products, I noticed a difference right away. No. 9 understand the assignment. The serum has a unique triple-action formula that strengthens, protects and smooths – infused with red algae extracts that works against damage from heat tools, and also UVA and UVB rays – perfect for the summer.

After you shower, work the serum through damp hair. You only need one pump to have enough product. Choose if you want to smooth it out with a blow-dry, diffused curls or just let it air dry. Definitely, a must try if you are looking for a new hair serum – my natural curls have never looked better. Find it here.

Comme des Garçons ZERO Eau de Parfum
ZERO is a radical expression of simplicity. COMME des GARÇONS Parfums has just released a new genderless perfume, “ZERO,” following the fragrance collaboration with KAWS last fall. Curated by perfumer Fanny Ball, the unisex scent is rich with earthy and woodsy notes of bergamot, cedar, vetiver, musk and rose oxide - a nice new scent for the summer. Find and read more here

Youth to the People Superberry Dream Cleansing Balm
With the use of sunscreen, it’s important to make sure not only make-up but also sunscreen wipes of your face. A good option is then a cleansing balm or cleansing oil. Youth to The People is a California native, whose new Superberry Dream Cleansing Balm helps you get a clean face. The balm instantly melts and dissolves makeup, water-resistant sunscreens and oils. The balm also nourishes the skin and adds moisture to make sure you don’t dry out. The PEG-free formula is rinsed off without residue and leaves the skin super clean. A good option is to use it with your Gua Sha. Find it here.

Tanrevel One Luxury dark
For us who use SPF 50 and don’t really want to get exposed to the sun. There is another way to get that healthy sun-kissed look. TanRevel has a simple pocket-size spray tan device that gives you that at-home spray tan. It creates a quick tanning look, and you are in charge of how tanned you want it – by simply adding a layer. NARS Radiance Primer SPF35
A good primer for June is essential. The Nars Radiance Primer has SPF35 and makes it a good option for the summertime to help the makeup fit all day. It’s oil-free and creates a silky smooth surface to apply your makeup on. Radiance Boosting Complex revives and renews the skin's radiance with a light mother-of-pearl shimmer that works wonders for the skin. By using a primer, the makeup fits better all day. The primer can also be used without foundation, since it contains skin care ingredients that protect and care for the skin throughout the day. Cleanse the skin and apply your usual moisturizer, then apply a thin layer of NARS Radiance Primer SPF35 all over the face. Find the primer here.
