    KARL FOR EVER
A TRIBUTE TO KARL LAGERFELD HELD IN PARIS ON JUNE 20, 2019
co-hosted by CHANEL, FENDI and KARL LAGERFELD.

PARIS, FRANCE – Thursday, 20 June, the Houses of CHANEL, FENDI (LVMH) and KARL LAGERFELD all came together to pay tribute to Karl Lagerfeld at a celebration designed, directed and staged by Robert Carsen.

The many facets of this extraordinary man were evoked through a tapestry of videos filmed throughout his life, interspersed with testimonials from people who knew him, as well as the generous “live” contributions of highly talented actors, musicians, dancers who interpreted some of the music and literature Karl loved so much.

Actresses Tilda Swinton, Fanny Ardant, Cara Delevingne and Helen Mirren, friends of Karl Lagerfeld, recited and read excerpts from works by his favourite authors, such as Virginia Woolf, Stéphane Mallarmé, Colette and Edith Sitwell.

The extraordinary Jookin dancer Lil Buck, the brilliant violinist Charlie Siem (who played Paganini, one of the favourite composers of Karl Lagerfeld’s mother Elizabeth), Argentinian choreographer German Cornejo, accompanied by his troupe of 17 tango dancers and his 7-piece orchestra from Buenos Aires (Carlos Gardel was Karl Lagerfeld’s favourite singer and the tango was his favourite dance), the celebrated pianist Lang Lang (who played Chopin on the grand piano designed by Karl Lagerfeld for the 150th anniversary of Steinway), and American artist Pharrell Williams were also on stage to pay homage to the man who had deeply marked them and who was their friend.

These artists – as well as the 2,500 guests present at the Grand Palais to celebrate Karl Lagerfeld – were immersed in a spectacular exhibition of 56 giant enlargements of portraits taken throughout his life by some of the most famous photographers in a setting designed by Robert Carsen, inspired by Karl’s favourite colours: black and white enhanced with a touch of red.

In turn, the participants also paid tribute to the aesthete, this man of culture, photographer, creator… in an exceptional moment as grand as his talent.

  • LOUIS VUITTON MENS FASHION JEWELLERY

    Louis Vuitton presents
Men’s Artistic Director Virgil Abloh’s first fashion jewellery collection

June 2019 — Louis Vuitton introduces new fashion jewellery pieces into the current collection, a concept envisaged by Men’s Artistic Director Virgil Abloh. A natural continuation for Louis V uitton accessories, this jewellery collection encapsulates the contemporary mood of the House and embodies the new vocabulary introduced across all categories.

The collection is a reinterpretation of classic menswear
chains that debuted during the men’s Spring-Summer 2019 show across various accessories and leather goods. Here, elements from these explorations are offered across pendants, bracelets, and rings.

To offer a full wardrobe of jewellery, from pieces for the red carpet to daily wear, an alternative to this show-stopping piece comes in an entirely palladium-finished version, with features of Monogram artfully scattered across it. Two exceptional white ceramic pieces - a pendant and a ceramic signet ring embossed with Monogram palladium-finished brass. All necklaces and bracelets come with an innovative new system of closing; a clever cylindrical slide specially developed to ensure security.
The clasp comes embellished with Louis Vuitton branding and an “R” engraving, the registered trademark symbol, a detail that runs throughout the collection. Both pay tribute to the Spring-Summer 2019 collection, where Virgil Abloh introduced immaculate white ceramic jewellery.
This collection includes essential additions to Louis V uitton menswear. Each piece combines the signature Louis Vuitton savoir-faire with Virgil Abloh’s vision of style.

An entirely new Louis V uitton chain is introduced. Inspired by classic Cuban links, it nods to wider cultural references, from hip-hop to skate culture, and a dynamic community of collaborators. Rooted in the heritage of men’s jewellery, the chain has been twisted into a new, highly exclusive form through an inventive and meticulous use of materials and finishes.

A multi-hued chain, nods to the rainbow story which was central to the Spring-Summer 2019 collection – a tribute to diversity and an open invitation to a new, global audience. It showcases an array of exceptional finishes, techniques and materials, which are carefully united together across the links. Coloured enamel in orange and blue tones, brass with aged gold effect, palladium finishing with Monogram engraving, and crystal encrustations in a range of hues are all united across one chain.

Acne Studios teams up with Starter Black Label for a capsule collection

Acne Studios collaborates with the legendary American athletic brand Starter Black Label on a range of iconic pieces. From the classic Starter baseball jacket, basketball jersey and baseball hats to the Acne Studios 1996 and 1997 jeans, oversized logo patches are placed throughout the collection to playfully accentuate the partnership.

The collaboration presents classic pieces from both Acne Studios and Starter Black Label to create a fresh, new vision for Spring/Summer 2019. Sportswear items such as a baseball jacket, shirt and shorts, basketball jersey and shorts, ball caps and a basketball have been reimagined in the Acne Studios pink and marine blue, with the number 13. Meanwhile, the Acne Studios 1996 and 1997 jeans feature either the Starter Black Label logo embroidery or a patchwork with the logos. Rounding out the collection are t-shirts with embroidered logos and the Acne Studios 1998 and 2000 denim jackets with patchwork logos.
“I’m interested in the relationship between sports merchandise and fashion, and this collaboration with Starter Black Label originated from that curiosity,” says Jonny Johansson, Creative Director of Acne Studios.
