Spring is just around the corner, and the sun is saying hello, but so is the dry and cold weather. To make sure we take care of our skin for that dry air, we need to prep it.

For those weekend walks in the woods, running in the park or just going grocery shopping, we have to hydrate our skin to minimise any unwanted dryness and tightness. To make it as easiest as possible, I have focused on the most accessible brands and products out there - with the highest quality that gets the job done. These, you can find at the pharmacy or at your favorite online beauty retailer today.

Prep your skin with this routine

First and foremost, make sure you cleanse your skin with a kind and gentle cleanser. Followed by a hydrating toner that gives you that extra preparation before starting with the serum.

Adding a serum in your skincare routine can help you with your personal skin concerns. For this article, that means protect and hydrate.

Protect your skin barrier with the Cosrx Snail Essence, a K-beauty classic that have taken the world by storm. The essence helps protect and strengthen your skin barrier for those harsh weathers. Drench your skin in the product and tap in, it will not only protect the skin barrier but hydrate your skin. Use it at night to have it work its magic.

Two other serum superstars for this season are the Lumene Moisturizing Prebiotic Oil-Cocktail and Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Hyaluronic Marine Hydration Booster. Both gives an intense hydration as soon as they touch your skin. The Oil-Cocktail is an oil formula that works for sensative skin, which makes your skin glow and feel hydrated right away. The Dr. Dennis Grow Hydration booster formula is like water, you use 3-4 drops and apply it. Personally, I use it together with my Avène Thermal Spring Water. Since it's a powerful hyaluronic acid product, I make sure my skin is not dry before or after application - to make sure the acid don't draw water from my skin when the weather is dry. Lastly, if you have sensitive skin, make sure you start with 2-3 drops, and then increasing it.

Lastly, I go for the eyes. The 5 Stars Retinoid + Niacinamide Eye Cream by Sunday Riley is my new go-to. I love the application tool and the easy texture and it gives me a healthy glow for the entire day. The 6% retinol eye serum is infused with Niacinamide, not to mention Olive Oil and Shea Butter to hydrate and restore. The eye serum is perfect to give that extra love to your delicate skin around the eyes.

During this time of year, I have started using my night balm as my day cream - when I am not wearing any makeup. The Lumene Arctic Hydra Care Rich Night Balm to be exact. This balm moisteruzers sensitive, and dry skin to help recover the skin’s moisture balance. By combining Nordic oat butter, bilberry and oat oils it leaves the skin nourished - which lasts for the entire day. Good to know is that the product is developed in co-operation with Finnish Allergy, Skin and Asthma Federation.

Another hydration key product is korean brand Innisfree's Intensive Hydrating Cream with Green Tea SeedThe smooth gel texture allows the product to be absorbed easily, leaving your skin supple and hydrated without any stickiness. If you haven't tried a korean brand before, this is what you should try first. Enriched Fresh Green Tea Water 2.0 ™with more than 16 amino acids, This Green Tea opens the moisture path of dehydrated skin to reveal a dewy and clear. Not to mention, it smells absolutly amazing - that helps you wake up and get ready for the day.

If however, your skin is very red and irriteted, I sometimes leave a light layer of 100% Shea Butter, during the night - which makes my skin feel less irritated.

For those of you who instead want something lighter, La Roche Posay Toleriane Ultra Cream is a rich, hydrating formula. The cream provides a calm for the skin, and preps it before going outside. It’s a bit lighter in the feeling and makes it a great day cream for the spring. The cream is also great for the ultra sensitive and allergic skin types.

And while spring is coming, so is the sun. For that reason, using ingredients such as retinol, hyaluronic acid and vitamin c - to mention a few. They make the skin more sensitive to the sun.

I personally use sunscreen all year around, and the sunscreen for the last 6 months have been the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 30  The invisible and weightless sunscreen offers protection and preps the skin. The oil-free sunscreen controls oil and shine, and is therefore perfect for you with oily skin - and as a primer. The full spectrum product include Red Algae helps protect against blue-light and Meadowfoam Seed Oil to increase hydration.
