The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives, is marking World Ocean Day this year with a series of vibrant happenings across the island between 7th to 9th June 2023. Educating adults and kids on protecting the ocean and marine life, the resort is playing its part in taking collective action around the international day.

Located just a 35-minute speedboat journey from the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Hanifaru Bay, guests visiting the resort can look forward to the chance of seeing and learning more about the 220 species of aquatic creatures that live within the pristine house reef. Including grey sharks, eagle rays, tropical fish, and turtles, it is also home to 98 different types of magnificent coral.

The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives will host two inspiring and educational presentations throughout the week, inviting a Local Marine Biologist to discuss the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hanifaru Bay, and the marine ecosystem that surrounds the idyllic island. The property’s dive centre, Carpe Diem, will also be educating guests on how they are able to help protect the surrounding ocean’s natural beauty whilst staying on the island, through education about the house reef and its ecosystem.

For those looking to explore the colourful and stunning underwater world or witness Manta’s in all their glory, the resort will be offering Guided Snorkelling and Manta Excursions, both accompanied by a local marine biologist. The property will also be hosting free Coral Planting and House Reef Cleaning sessions throughout the week for guests to take part in.
