    Frieze Art Fair
    October 14-17, 2021
    London, UK

With over 160 Galleries at Frieze London and 130 at Frieze Masters the popular art fair is sure to entertain. Following last year’s hiatus due to you-know-what, both art fairs are returning to the Regent’s Park this October. The two events bring together galleries from 40 countries, presenting art across
the ages, from ancient art and old masters to modern classics and the contemporary.

Also present at the fair is The Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC), an international charity advocating for a more sustainable art world. A suitable place to be considering the massive critic international art fairs have been getting the past years due to the high carbon footprint they create. In the Focus section of Frieze London, you can find one of my personal favourites working with landscapes and climate change, photographer Noémie Goudal, showing with Edel Assanti Gallery.

Open all weekend in London’s Regent’s Park.

Written by Yasmine by Elva Ahlbin

A new chapter of Hermès Beauty have arrived. After the success of the lipsticks. The Les Mains Hermès - a collection of nail polish and hand care products is here. The collection consists of 24 shades, inspired by the house's enamels, developed together with craftsmen from the house's métiers. As well as hand care products to protect our hands with style and luxury this fall.

In a press release it states that several of Hermès 'leading profiles have once again been involved in the development of the products, such as Pierre Hardy, designer of Hermès Beauty Objects and creative director of Hermès shoes and jewelery, together with Hermès' creative director Pierre-Alexis Dumas.

With the 24 shades, the most well-known and longed for, is of course the “Orange Boîte” — Hermès’s iconic orange shade.

    .

The dedicated work and craftsmanship in the new collection is found in everything from the bottle designer, formulas, sustainability and eco-thinking in formulas.

The Nail Polish line will be available from October 15th

    Expanded Vision

    Written by Art Editor

LFF Expanded, 26 Leake Street, London
    October 6-17, 2021

As a part of London Film Festival, LFF Expanded shows a selection of immersive works ranging from digital art to augmented, mixed and virtual reality pieces.

Most remarkable is the installation of the mixed reality work “Eternal Return” by Swedish artist duo Lundahl Seitl (in collab with UK based ScanLAB Projects) where the viewer is immersed in a virtual world that alternates between a grid like environment, and a dusty, old piano workshop. The ghostly digiscape stretches out infinitely with objects scattered around the viewer like fragments of memory. The participating audience is led by a narrative voice in the headphones and the hand of a live performer guiding the way. The experience is multisensory as it activates both vision, sound, touch and smell creating an intense situation of heightened perception as you are blind to the physical world around you other than via the tactile senses of your body and unaware of where the story and the performer will lead you. The relief of a door, a cup complete with cold coffee and a lamp are some of the 3D printed objects in the exhibition space for the participant to interact with as the story evolves.

Giving up on trying to control the situation and trusting the invisible hand that suddenly turn up only to disappear again throughout the experience is part of the vulnerable sensation generated by the artwork. The multiplicity in time scales introduced in the artwork resonates with the concept of deep time that connects the short lifespan of humans to the vast scale of geological time. By introducing new layers of existence, Lundahl Seitl create a shift in perception of reality which opens up for questions about the life lived and possible futures ahead.

Other interesting immersive film and VR works in the festival include “Liminal Lands” by Jakob Kudsk Steensen and “Samsara” by Hsin-Chien Huang.
