5 Reasons to Knot Wrap this Season

Written by Yasmine M

Try something new this season, let yourself shine and the creativity flow with sustainability on top of our minds. How about a scarf that turns into a shopping bag, a headscarf, and a statement accessory? Meet the reusable, long-lasting fabric that does all this and more.

Since earlier this year, I have had the perfect knot wrap. It’s ethically sourced, with care for the environment. And can be reused however you like. In basic terms, is a classic scarf, but to make you understand what you can do with a simple scarf, here are some ideas – let’s minimize our consumption and think outside the box.

1. Make a statement
Let's make your Knot Wrap your new accessory. With such a range of fabrics, patterns, and colors to choose from (which you also probably have some scarfes you don't use) you can easily coordinate your shopping purchases with your outfit of the day or use as a gift wrap. I use it around my neck, but during the summer have had it wrapped around my bag for that pop of color.

2. Take up a new hobby
Knot Wraps were inspired by the ancient Japanese tradition of furoshiki. Originally used to wrap up clothes when visiting the bath house, furoshiki has become a fun and addictive way of wrapping gifts and items. Learn how to create some really smart and creative wrapping ways with Furoshiki.

3. The gift of giving back & Endlessly reusable
The Knot Wraps can be used to wrap a gift for yourself or others, while also being mindful of environmental impact. It’s definitely what for example brand Lush believes, whom also inspired me to write this list - their many different 100% organic cotton wraps are made by re-wrap, a women's cooperative in India, that tutors rural women in sewing skills, admin, and other production processes. Not to mention, they break every day for Yoga sessions to make sure the women feel mentally and physically ready for the day. Others have been created from recycled plastic bottles, which are melted down and spun into thread, ready to be woven. For those vintage lovers out there, a company in the UK sources vintage scarves that can be gifted and reused as Knot Wraps.

4. Create a customisable bag
Did you know you can create a bag out of your scarf? You can simply wrap and rewrap practically anything. This expertise needs a bit of a larger scarf. Wrap it in two of the ends, with a double knot to see it transform into a bag for your disposal. Not to mention it’s a time saver, if you are wrapping a gift for example - for all of those times with the tape and sizzors trying to create the perfect wrapping. 5. Hair tie
The classic hair tie can, if you are creative, be transformed into a various of options - as a scrunchie, headband or why not something new I haven't even thought of? The possibilities are endless, if you are just brave to try.

Now go and check in your wardrobe if you found an old scarf you can create some new found magic with! If you have more ideas, feel free to let me know!
