• Offecct x Emmanuel Babled

    Written by Fashion Tales

The new collaboration between Offecct and Emmanuel Babled is challenging the boundaries between art and furniture. Babled is a unique collaboration between the French designer Emmanuel Babled and Offecct. The iconic swivel/easy chair that was first made as a work of art, has now evolved into furniture in Offecct Lab. World premiere at Salone del Mobile Milano 2018!

Emmanuel Babled's voluminous and sculptural swivel/easy chair Babled was originally created as a piece of art in marble. Offecct's Design Manager Anders Englund saw the object in Milan last year and wanted to investigate what would happen if it were transformed into dressed furniture. “Our design is exploratory, creative and playful. The way we work has many similarities to the artistic process, so it’s natural for us to bring art and furniture together and at the same time challenge the boundaries between the two,” he says.

The collaboration between Emmanuel Babled and Offecct has taken place in Offecct Lab, a dynamic forum where Offecct invites different partners to experiment and test new solutions, materials and ideas. Sometimes the products become part of the standard range, and sometimes they remain important stages of knowledge and development. The work is closely linked to Offecct’s Lifecircle philosophy by constantly challenging and exploring boundaries.

Emmanuel Babled says he was inspired to create Babled when he saw a big butterfly with its wings open. The organic shape makes the easy chair look like different furniture from different angles, both heavy and light in expression standing on a distinct foundation. “When I started designing it, I also thought of famous Scandinavian furniture from the 1960s shaped like big shells and with rounded and soft shapes. The mission wass to make the chair feel welcoming and to inspire people to let their bodies sit or lie in relaxed, comfortable positions,” he says.

  • Monki AW18 : Press play(ful)

    Written by Fashion Tales

Scandi cool fashion brand Monki has aimed high for AW18: to distil the essential autumn fashion pieces and accessories for 20-something young women, from the suit to the beret — In a Monki way. In line with the brand’s drive to enable expressive style, this means that the design team has set out to play with classic elements, not repeat them. The result is a vibrant collection that is ‘fashion’, that is personal — and wardrobe-ready. A collection, in short, that feels like pressing play on a playlist of favourite songs, remixed, reinvented and elevated with new inspiring beats.

We take fashion seriously — and we love to have fun with it,” says Caroline Carlryd, Head of Design at Monki. “That’s the love-love relationship behind our AW18 press collection: A playfully curated mix of references and design ideas that makes us fall in love with fall all over again. And that’s what the new autumn essentials are all about: seriously stylish pieces, seriously enjoyable fashion.” The AW18 Press play collection highlights modern autumn essentials: the pinstripe and cord suiting, the shearling outerwear, the short skirt, the foral blouse—and remixes them.

Using the energy of unexpected materials, combos, prints, 70s references, sporty details and bold, even loud accessories to inspire. In the Monki version of classic autumn fashion, pinstripe and plaid tweed suiting is worn with gold lamé turtle necks or top-to-toe all over forals. The classic beret comes not in wool but in a luxe faux shearling, and the perennial burnt orange knit is worn with burgundy patent leather kick-fares. In short: each design choice elevates the other. The collection, like the brand itself, asks one fundamental question: isn’t life too short to wear boring clothes?

The press play credo has also inspired the press shoot, featuring models Lily McMenamy, and twin models Martine and Gunnhild Chioko Johansen.

  • Made By: Atlas Television, brought to you by Pistonhead Foundation and Luger

    Written by Fashion Tales

This upcoming Friday, on the 19:th of May, Pistonhead Foundation and Luger are inviting you to Hilma, to take part in the first ever Made By event.

Both Pistonhead Foundation and Luger have always valued creativity and what creative expressions mean for a progressive culture. With this new, joint concept, the two decided to leave their previous project ‘Pistonhead On Tour’ behind, to take it one step further and create a concept where various creative expressions can work together.  The result was Made By, a concept that seeks to create unique experiences where music, art and other types of expressions meet. Made By is a series of evening-events, with four stops throughout this year, where an invited creator, artist or collective will be given the opportunity to create an evening completely designed from their own creative fantasies – without boundaries.

Pistonhead Foundation is convinced that creative souls make everyday-life better for everyone, and that different artist’s work is vital for how we experience modern culture. Luger share these values and we have collaborated with Pistonhead Foundation before, with the concert concept called On-Tour. With Made By, however, we want to take it a step further and create a concept where various creative expressions meet, and where the creators are given complete autonomy!” says Peter Björklund, Marketing Partnership Manager, Luger.

Made By is debuting the 19th of May with Atlas Television and their evening called “Atlasgruppens Tårar”. A collective consisting of the two artists Duda Bebek and Alexandra Karpilovski. They are both known as individual artists, but are also curating together under the collective name Atlas Television. Inspired by the classic film ’The Adventures of Picasso’, Atlas Television will create a unique evening and an environment based on the characteristic expression of the films scenography and surrealistic humour. Further, the night will feature a number of interesting guests. The band LINES, that recently released a new song with Dolores Haze, will also perform live.

“Using the history of surrealism as a starting point, we aim to provide space for humor as well as suffering to create a meeting point that could be played with, and played within. With a mix of short happenings and fantastic performances from a variety of invited performers, we seek to break down the hierarchical stair, and instead generate an evening with lust and thoughtless seriousness.” - Atlas Television.

Pistonhead Foundation is an initiative created by Spendrups with the aim to support progressive and contemporary artists. The second out of  four Made By-stop is taking place in Gothenburg during the 16/6! This time the evening will be held by photographer Frida Vega Salomonsson and her platform and creative collective NUDA. The collective consists of a number of young creators - all of whom a creatively active in different interests. Together, they explore and find new ways to create contemporary culture.

The amount of wildlife on earth has reduced with more than 50 % during the last decades. This is a brutal and frightening reality.
