Asya Varetsa and Kate Zubarieva are both former fashion editors who launched Sleeper in 2014 during the Revolution of Dignity in Ukraine, no experience in designing clothes, just 2,000$ in savings and..a dream. Their FW14-15 collection was highly regarded by the editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia Franca Sozzani who named Sleeper the brand of the month. Over the first year, Sleeper garments were worn by women who had been inspiring them long before they became the mothers of Sleeper: Mira Duma, Veronika Heilbrunner, Emily Ratajkowski, Aurora James, Eleonora Carisi, Leandra Medine, Pandora Sykes among others.  In the summer of 2017, Marie Claire USA declared Sleeper's linen, off-the-shoulder dress the “best garment of the year”. Now the Sleeper collections are available at Harrods, Barneys, Moda Operandi, Opening Ceremony and many other stores all over the world.


Sleeper supports artisan-manufacturing traditions and ethical consciousness. All pieces are hand-crafted from natural eco-friendly fibers only, e.g., 100 percent silk, cotton, linen. A dedicated seamstress with up to 30 years of professional experience spends 8-12 hours on one item. All of their garments are made-to-order meaning there's no excessive production at all.

Kate Zubarieva states that the Sleeper woman is definitely a personality, whose home life is filled with the same sense and joy as her social life.

“We truly believe that being a personality is remarkable. Inspiration? We had been discussing this with Asya lately, and saw eye to eye that the place, which inspired us the most is….an airport.
