• The Beauty Essentials for October

    Written by Yasmine Mubarak

The focus this month is the hidden products of skin-, and hair care. The heroes next to the classic day creams, the shampoos and body lotions. Instead, here are the oils, serums, and treatments that give us that extra boost. Perfect for when the weather is changing and we are heading for a colder season. You will notice I am more positive than usual – but they deserve it.

    Bio-Oil Skincare Oil
Bye-bye body lotion, and hello body oil. Oil can improve the skin, more than cream and the queen of them all is this the Bio-Oil Skincare Oil. It has saved me many times from getting scars, and it keeps my stretch marks hydrated (and hopefully keeps new ones away). It’s actually the first oil to prove that it could improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks, and today has over 400 skincare awards to its name. If my words of this holy grail is not enough - Kim Kardashian herself, swear by it. However, hey, bio-oil – if you need new ideas on packaging improvement, I am open to share my ideas.

C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum, Sunday Riley
This little gem is hidden behind the Vitamin C oils. The serum is perfect for those with sensitive skin and still want a powerful C vitamin product. It’s an advanced serum with a creamy formula - with plant saccharides and 15 percent vitamin C (THD ascorbate). This to visibly minimize pores, brighten dark spots, and target signs of aging. It has a lovely smell that reminds you of summer, and you give a very soft and lovely feeling applying it.  Not to mention, it creates an antioxidant protection when applied every morning that last throughout the day, However, if you still are looking for an oil, look no further than the brand's Vitamin C oil, here.

L'Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Anti-deposit Protector Concentrated Hair Oil
As the name hints, Metal Detox – is a metal detox for your hair. It’s supposed to strengthen your hair and remove damage caused by the metal from the water when we shower. A treatment to remove the build-up.
Since the pandemic, from washing my hair 1-2 times a week – to countless extra. I can feel in the last 7-8 months that my hair texture has changed completely. So, when this oil was released, I was ready to try it. And fingers crossed so far, my hair feels super soft and strong after application. It’s easy to apply, either in towel-dry hair or dry hair - and you don’t need much. Result-wise, the softness is really there, however, if it takes away metal, I don’t know yet, but my hair feels stronger so it has to be doing something right! It’s also a heat-protection for up to 230°C. Ideal for all hair types and textures.

    Healing Curls Treatment, L’ANZA
O.M.G. To all my curly girls out there, there is a new sheriff in town. While I am writing an entire article on the new curl series from L’anza, I couldn’t keep this leave-in treatment from you longer than needed. Curl Restore is a deeply moisturizing leave-in treatment, that combines the power of plant-based protein, vegan butters & wildcrafted botanicals. At first sight, I thought this bottle was a mask, so I used it as such. Ehh wrong. It’s a leave-in. And it sure leaves in the moisture. My hair feels absolutely moisturised and frizz-free, with soft looking curls. That’s all I can say for now, the long review is coming…

White Tea Skin Solutions Fortifying Bi-Phase Oil Serum, Elizabeth Arden Last but not least, Elizabeth Arden released their new collection 'White Lotus' this September, and throughout the month, I have tried it. Enriched with antioxidant-rich EGCG, the serum is a bi-phase serum with a light, fast-absorbing formula that restores skin's clarity and youthful elasticity. The upper phase is enriched with lipid-rich white tea oil to nourish the skin's barrier. The lower phase is enriched with EGCG, white tea extract and rainbow algae to tighten, brighten and even skin tone. Shake well to mix the two liquides, massage 3-5 drops onto cleansed skin, morning and night.

  • GANT x Wrangler

    Written by Fashion Tales

American sportswear brand GANT is pleased to announce a collaboration with American denim icon Wrangler, launching this Fall. The 30-piece capsule collection; including jeans, apparel and accessories for men and women, explores the intersection of East Coast preppy and Western denim. Standout pieces include bootcut jeans with collegiate patches, a varsity jacket with a western embroidered motif and a faux-fur lined denim jacket, inspired by the rock legends of the 1960s and 1970s.

With both brands founded in the 1940s, the original shirtmaker and denim artisan helped shape and define the emergence of American sportswear. For FW22, these two worlds come together in a joyous celebration of American iconography exploring new common ground through their vast archives.

Working with Wrangler has been an incredibly fun experience. The minute I first spoke to Sean I knew the same things made us tick.. We’re both vintage nerds and we found a lot of unexpected commonalities in our respective archives. The clash between the history of our two brands set in 2022 has produced some really interesting pieces.” says GANT Creative Director, Christopher Bastin.

In 1950s America, Wrangler and GANT were at the forefront of the emergence of casual Americana design. While Wrangler was embracing the western lifestyle, with pioneering products such as the western jean, jacket and shirt, GANT shaped preppy style with their definitive button-down shirts. The stories might be different - Wrangler dressed rodeo stars and ranch hands, while GANT defined the Ivy Leaguers’ look - but both created a lasting cultural impact. The DNA of both brands runs through each piece in this celebration of our combined heritage,” says Sean Gormley, Global Concept Director, Modern at Wrangler.

The limited collection will be sold in GANT and Wrangler channels worldwide from September 2022.

  • 5 Reasons to Knot Wrap this Season

    Written by Yasmine Mubarak

Try something new this season, let yourself shine and the creativity flow with sustainability on top of our minds. How about a scarf that turns into a shopping bag, a headscarf, and a statement accessory? Meet the reusable, long-lasting fabric that does all this and more.

Since earlier this year, I have had the perfect knot wrap. It’s ethically sourced, with care for the environment. And can be reused however you like. In basic terms, is a classic scarf, but to make you understand what you can do with a simple scarf, here are some ideas – let’s minimize our consumption and think outside the box.

    1. Make a statement
Let's make your Knot Wrap your new accessory. With such a range of fabrics, patterns, and colors to choose from (which you also probably have some scarfes you don't use) you can easily coordinate your shopping purchases with your outfit of the day or use as a gift wrap. I use it around my neck, but during the summer have had it wrapped around my bag for that pop of color.

    2. Take up a new hobby
Knot Wraps were inspired by the ancient Japanese tradition of furoshiki. Originally used to wrap up clothes when visiting the bath house, furoshiki has become a fun and addictive way of wrapping gifts and items. Learn how to create some really smart and creative wrapping ways with Furoshiki.

    3. The gift of giving back & Endlessly reusable
The Knot Wraps can be used to wrap a gift for yourself or others, while also being mindful of environmental impact. It’s definitely what for example brand Lush believes, whom also inspired me to write this list - their many different 100% organic cotton wraps are made by re-wrap, a women's cooperative in India, that tutors rural women in sewing skills, admin, and other production processes. Not to mention, they break every day for Yoga sessions to make sure the women feel mentally and physically ready for the day. Others have been created from recycled plastic bottles, which are melted down and spun into thread, ready to be woven. For those vintage lovers out there, a company in the UK sources vintage scarves that can be gifted and reused as Knot Wraps.

    4. Create a customisable bag
Did you know you can create a bag out of your scarf? You can simply wrap and rewrap practically anything. This expertise needs a bit of a larger scarf. Wrap it in two of the ends, with a double knot to see it transform into a bag for your disposal. Not to mention it’s a time saver, if you are wrapping a gift for example - for all of those times with the tape and sizzors trying to create the perfect wrapping. See everything you can do with a scarf in a tutorial here

    5. Hair tie
The classic hair tie can, if you are creative, be transformed into a various of options - as a scrunchie, headband or why not something new I haven't even thought of? The possibilities are endless, if you are just brave to try.

Now go and check in your wardrobe if you found an old scarf you can create some new found magic with! If you have more ideas, feel free to let me know!
