• PRADA REVEALS NEW PARADOXE FRAGRANCE FILM CAMPAIGN DIRECTED BY EMMA WATSON

    Written by Yasmine Mubarak

This week, we were presented with the surprise of the year in the beauty industry. Emma Watson is back in the spotlight. The award-winning actor and UN Women Goodwill Ambassador have written, directed, and stars in the launch of Paradoxe, the new women’s fragrance by Prada.

The new fragrance celebrates the multi-dimensionality of a woman. Something Watson is very familiar too working and being active in many different fields, as an artist, an activist, and an actor. Now, also as a director – directing the film campaign for Prada - an empowering celebration of what it means to be a living paradox. The film is Watson’s personal expression and perspective, an insight into her many differentiae in their unexpected symbioses. At its core, Watson orchestrates a dynamic symphony celebrating her every dimension– at once alive and vibrant within her, set free in the spirit of indefinability.

In a statement, Watson talks about her new opportunity
“I think it was serendipitous that Prada came to me with this project. It was around the time when I had really made a decision in my heart and my head that I wanted to direct – and I found the concept of being a woman who is a paradox so compelling.’’

About the new fragrance, Watson says
‘’…I hope that the values behind Prada Paradoxe give women a little more space to celebrate themselves, to know that it’s ok to be complex and to explore the different facets of themselves that make them the fullest expression of who they are.”

“Why should I be framed?” asks Watson in the short film. “Boxes are always too small. I celebrate my imperfections; I do my days in joy. I'm never the same, but I'm always myself.” Something many of us can relate too, being more than just one thing. In it, Watson inhibits a variety of personas; from a dancer to an artist, from an explorer to someone who's completely at peace with herself. The film is photographed by celebrated photographer Harley Weir, and we see Watson in different parts of life.

True to Watson's eco-conscious philosophy, Prada Paradoxe creates a refillable fragrance. The Italian brand is also working with Watson and ethical fashion experts Good On You to improve its sustainability and transparency practices. See the film below

  • THE NEW PRADA PARADOXE EAU DE PARFUM

    Written by Yasmine Mubarak

The new Prada Paradoxe Eau de Parfum, is Prada's new iconic signature fragrance. A feminine floral fragrance that invites us to explore and express the paradoxical and multidimension in us. To celebrate that you are constantly changing, that you are always yourself.

Master perfumers Nadège Le Garlantezec, Shyamala Maisondieu and Antoine Maisondieu collaborated with Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons to reconcile timelessness and avant-garde, nature, and innovation. The new Prada fragrance wishes to embrace the paradoxes of iconic ingredients to reveal new scented sensations. Reinventing freshness with the first Neroli bid extraction to capture the flower fresh dimension.

The new fragrance was presented through a film directed and starring Emma Watson. The actor, activist and now director is the perfect fit for a fragrance celebrating the multi-dimensions of ourselves. The floral ambery fragrance with white musk braces the paradoxes of iconic ingredients. For example, Amber but named Ambrofix™, from a bio-converted amber, and a new revolutionary musk molecule: the Serenolide™, for an intense yet subtle and comfortable trail noticeable right from the top.

The lovely bottle comes in three different sizes, in a triangle shape that fits lovely in the bathroom and travel bag. A new aspect of the perfume that work in line with Emma Watson’s sustainable work is that the perfume is refillable. The glass bottle has been designed to limit its weight and use of glass, which makes it even more useful. The fragrance is also built on three sustainably sourced ingredients including Moroccan Neroli Oil, Vanilla Infusion and Calabrian Bergamot Heart. Another aspect is it’s reinventing of the iconic code of the brand: its triangle logo. The shape of the bottle is softened by rounded angles, while the coral pink blends with the black cap and Prada logo.

The scent takes you straight to a sweet and feminine feeling - it's perfect to start your empowering next chapter with. As the scent and campaign film wish to embrace is the power of being many different things at the same time. It kind of helps that Emma Watson herself is fronting the campaign. In a quote, Emma Watson hopes the fragrance can give women a little more space to celebrate ourselves - and it sure does.

  • Gant x St. Vincent

American Sportswear brand GANT is proud to announce a new collaboration with Grammy-award-winning musician, writer, director, and actor St. Vincent. This stagewear-inspired capsule collection evokes disco glamour, vintage rock, and 1970s New York City.

Converging the world of American sportswear with modern music, GANT and St. Vincent have created a ten-piece womenswear collection crafted in luxurious materials like silk and fine Italian wool. The capsule is made up of retro pants, shorts, a blazer, two scarves, three shirts, and two types of socks—all with St Vincent’s wildly creative fashion sense infused into every piece.

Working on a tour wardrobe for an American icon like St. Vincent is a dream come true for both GANT and me personally,” says GANT Creative Director, Christopher Bastin. “The versatility of the collection makes it light enough to tear up the stage and fancy enough to blow up any party!”

St. Vincent remarked: “I’m thrilled to celebrate this ”Daddy’s Home” era with the GANT capsule collection. We interpreted the sleazy-1970s spirit into incredibly well-made pieces that people can wear in all kinds of ways – dressed up or casual, together or separate. For the daddy in all of us.”

The limited-edition collection will be available for purchase at gant.com and St. Vincent’s official site on July 13, 2022.

    An Interview with Namelle

    Written by Fashion Tales

Electro pop artist and songwriter from Sweden is now releasing new music. With a great passion for storytelling she invite us all to take part of her journal while listening to her songs. We catched her between all the summer gigs to shoot this series.

When did your interest in music begin?
My interest in music showed at a very early age. I used to dance around and sing along before I could even walk or talk. After that music became more and more important to me.

When did you realize that music was for you and how did it happen?
I did my first performance at a school show in 8th grade, and afterward, people came up to me and gave me so many compliments for it. Like most kids in high school, I felt lost at the time, and the sudden appreciation made me feel like I had found my place in life. Suddenly I was “Namelle, the girl who sings”.

What kind of music did you grow up listening to?
Swedish dansband, Rammstein and Kelly Clarkson. My mother had a broad music taste and she always decided what we’d listen to in the car.

    How did your career start?
I continued to perform as much as I could and got more and more shows booked. I had a lot of support from people around me who encouraged me to continue.

When did you realise that music was something you could make a career of?
My entrepreneurship teacher Christian was the one who taught me that it’s possible to get paid for gigs, and because I had so many bookings I started up my own company and started to earn money from it.

What can we expect from you in the future?
A lot! I love music, fashion, fitness and motorcycles so I’ll definitely be doing different things related to that. Music is really my number one thing, both writing for myself and others.
This summer I’m going on a tour here in Sweden, and hopefully, I’ll be able to do a Europe/UK tour very soon too.

Do you find that your music changes you or does the music change with you?
What an interesting question. I guess that music changes me overall, with a lot of new impressions from different sounds and lyrics that make me think. And I guess that my own music changes me when I see how the audience reacts to it. If a song means something special for them it can give me a new perspective too. My music definitely changes with me depending on where I am in life and who I’m working with.

Which singer would you dream of collab with, dead or alive?
My dream collaborations is Linkin Park, Rudimental, Ryan Tedder, Jon Bellion and Thomas Stenström. Wakey Wakey was also included here but I got the honor to work with him in Austin a few months ago.

What do you do before a performance? Do you have a preparation ritual or something?
Not any specific ritual to be honest. As long as I have a good soundcheck I just relax before the gig.

Tell me about yourself, how did you end up here?
I’m an entrepreneurial, music addicted morning person who loves networking and traveling.
For me, it’s always been clear that music is my path. HOW to do it has always been more difficult to know but I’ve just followed my instincts and done what I think is right.
I think it’s my drive in combination with all the inspiration I get from people around me that have taken me this far.
