    An Interview with Namelle

    Written by Fashion Tales

Electro pop artist and songwriter from Sweden is now releasing new music. With a great passion for storytelling she invite us all to take part of her journal while listening to her songs. We catched her between all the summer gigs to shoot this series.

When did your interest in music begin?
My interest in music showed at a very early age. I used to dance around and sing along before I could even walk or talk. After that music became more and more important to me.

When did you realize that music was for you and how did it happen?
I did my first performance at a school show in 8th grade, and afterward, people came up to me and gave me so many compliments for it. Like most kids in high school, I felt lost at the time, and the sudden appreciation made me feel like I had found my place in life. Suddenly I was “Namelle, the girl who sings”.

What kind of music did you grow up listening to?
Swedish dansband, Rammstein and Kelly Clarkson. My mother had a broad music taste and she always decided what we’d listen to in the car.

    How did your career start?
I continued to perform as much as I could and got more and more shows booked. I had a lot of support from people around me who encouraged me to continue.

When did you realise that music was something you could make a career of?
My entrepreneurship teacher Christian was the one who taught me that it’s possible to get paid for gigs, and because I had so many bookings I started up my own company and started to earn money from it.

What can we expect from you in the future?
A lot! I love music, fashion, fitness and motorcycles so I’ll definitely be doing different things related to that. Music is really my number one thing, both writing for myself and others.
This summer I’m going on a tour here in Sweden, and hopefully, I’ll be able to do a Europe/UK tour very soon too.

Do you find that your music changes you or does the music change with you?
What an interesting question. I guess that music changes me overall, with a lot of new impressions from different sounds and lyrics that make me think. And I guess that my own music changes me when I see how the audience reacts to it. If a song means something special for them it can give me a new perspective too. My music definitely changes with me depending on where I am in life and who I’m working with.

Which singer would you dream of collab with, dead or alive?
My dream collaborations is Linkin Park, Rudimental, Ryan Tedder, Jon Bellion and Thomas Stenström. Wakey Wakey was also included here but I got the honor to work with him in Austin a few months ago.

What do you do before a performance? Do you have a preparation ritual or something?
Not any specific ritual to be honest. As long as I have a good soundcheck I just relax before the gig.

Tell me about yourself, how did you end up here?
I’m an entrepreneurial, music addicted morning person who loves networking and traveling.
For me, it’s always been clear that music is my path. HOW to do it has always been more difficult to know but I’ve just followed my instincts and done what I think is right.
I think it’s my drive in combination with all the inspiration I get from people around me that have taken me this far.

  • The Beauty Essentials for June

    Written by Yasmine Mubarak

The first month of summer is here. To embrace it, I have combined some of the best news from skin, hair, scent and makeup prep this June. The products to help to create that effortless sun kissed look with focus on protection and glow.

Cloud & Glow's Butterfly Gua Sha
Cloud & Glow's Butterfly Gua Sha is made from 100% natural Rose Quartz. This design is a bit different from the Gua Sha I have used in history, I am not sure how it came about. But what I realized was that it actually was much nicer for my neck. It relieves tension from muscles, and it’s easier to use around your jaw and neck – and don’t hurt.  Gua Sha’s are famous to increase blood circulation to your face, and promotes lymphatic drainage.

In addition to help with puffiness.  Apply your favorite serum or moisturizer and massage the Gua Sha in an upward motion, working from your neck toward the forehead. Find it here.

Olaplex No. 9 Bond Protector Nourishing Hair Serum
The Olaplex No. 9 is a leave-in styling product that protects your hair from heat and pollution. I’ve been testing No. 9 for about 3 weeks, and similar to all Olaplex products, I noticed a difference right away. No. 9 understand the assignment. The serum has a unique triple-action formula that strengthens, protects and smooths – infused with red algae extracts that works against damage from heat tools, and also UVA and UVB rays – perfect for the summer.

After you shower, work the serum through damp hair. You only need one pump to have enough product. Choose if you want to smooth it out with a blow-dry, diffused curls or just let it air dry. Definitely, a must try if you are looking for a new hair serum – my natural curls have never looked better. Find it here.

Comme des Garçons ZERO Eau de Parfum
ZERO is a radical expression of simplicity. COMME des GARÇONS Parfums has just released a new genderless perfume, “ZERO,” following the fragrance collaboration with KAWS last fall. Curated by perfumer Fanny Ball, the unisex scent is rich with earthy and woodsy notes of bergamot, cedar, vetiver, musk and rose oxide - a nice new scent for the summer. Find and read more here

Youth to the People Superberry Dream Cleansing Balm
With the use of sunscreen, it’s important to make sure not only make-up but also sunscreen wipes of your face. A good option is then a cleansing balm or cleansing oil. Youth to The People is a California native, whose new Superberry Dream Cleansing Balm helps you get a clean face. The balm instantly melts and dissolves makeup, water-resistant sunscreens and oils. The balm also nourishes the skin and adds moisture to make sure you don’t dry out. The PEG-free formula is rinsed off without residue and leaves the skin super clean. A good option is to use it with your Gua Sha. Find it here.

    Tanrevel One Luxury dark
For us who use SPF 50 and don’t really want to get exposed to the sun. There is another way to get that healthy sun-kissed look. TanRevel has a simple pocket-size spray tan device that gives you that at-home spray tan. It creates a quick tanning look, and you are in charge of how tanned you want it – by simply adding a layer. The product has been a popular secret by many, but now it’s yours too. Learn more and find your new favorite here

    NARS Radiance Primer SPF35
A good primer for June is essential. The Nars Radiance Primer has SPF35 and makes it a good option for the summertime to help the makeup fit all day. It’s oil-free and creates a silky smooth surface to apply your makeup on. Radiance Boosting Complex revives and renews the skin's radiance with a light mother-of-pearl shimmer that works wonders for the skin. By using a primer, the makeup fits better all day. The primer can also be used without foundation, since it contains skin care ingredients that protect and care for the skin throughout the day. Cleanse the skin and apply your usual moisturizer, then apply a thin layer of NARS Radiance Primer SPF35 all over the face. Find the primer here.

  • Biotherm celebrated World Ocean Day with Nicholas Hoult

    Written by Yasmine Mubarak

Today is #WorldOceansDay, we often talk about water in terms of its health benefits to humans—as our lifeline to live a healthy life —but water also happens to play a major role in the health of the planet.

Not only do oceans help regulate the climate, but the phytoplankton living in them produces more than half of the oxygen on Earth. No wonder these vast bodies of water are often called the planet’s Blue Lung.

French skincare brand Biotherm has a long-standing relationship with water: its signature, skin-regenerating ingredient, Life Plankton™, was originally sourced from the thermal springs of the French Pyrenees mountains, back in the 1950s. The brand has also been an advocate for the protection of the world’s oceans since 2012, a pioneer of blue beauty—what you might call the aquatic arm of the green beauty movement.

The ocean is our blue lung. More than 50% of the oxygen on Earth is produced by the ocean. The actor states that ''This is why we must protect it and we must act now! As a passionate #WaterLover, I am proud to be part of @Biotherm’s new campaign to raise awareness of ocean preservation and announce their commitment to Become Ocean Positive by 2030.''

Biotherm is striving to improve their environmental footprint by developing more sustainable packaging solutions, more formulas powered by bioscience and empowering more Water Lovers to create a positive wave of change. Biotherm is dedicated to Blue Beauty. Powered by science, water-efficient, eco-designed and safe. They are committed to using more renewable ingredients, creating more formulas that respect the oceans, developing more sustainable designs and empowering a global community of Water Lovers.

  • Punch Room at The London EDITION

    Written by Jahwanna Berglund

Punch Room at The London EDITION, one of London’s most celebrated speciality cocktail bars, will re-open on 10th June 2022 with an innovative new menu concept created by Bars Manager Anthony Callegari.

Following the successful opening of Punch Room at The Madrid EDITION last month, this new menu promises to continue EDITION’s strides towards making punch sexy again. Punch Room is a contemporary reincarnation of London’s nineteenth-century private clubs, with locations in London, Shanghai, Barcelona and now Madrid, featuring furnished custom tufted banquettes in teal velvet, overstuffed mint green leather tub chairs, and dark brown leather club chairs, set to a soundtrack of vintage jazz, reggae, and soul through the ages.

Punch Room’s last menu, ‘The Five: Volume III’, was a successful exploration the five classical elements – earth, air, fire, water and ether. As a continuation of this, the new menu, titled ‘Inception’, takes inspiration from four influential figures from the history of punch, who have each transformed the evolution of the drink through new ingredients, techniques, and concepts. Based upon the traditions and history surrounding punch, the new menu offers a modern twist upon century-old recipes.

Anthony Callegari commented: ‘The creation of this menu has taken us on such a journey, and we are honoured to pay homage to these true pioneers of punch. Each one has taken the concept in a different direction and started a new phase, so it only seems right that we honour them as we enter this new era for the Punch Room.’

Each chapter of ‘Inception’ contains five reiterations of punch focussing on one key flavour – each represented through past, classic, present, future, and non-alcoholic expressions. Beginning with the cocktail’s original inception, guests can travel through time to explore modern and classic recreations of signature drinks, concluding in a futuristic interpretation.

Gates Otsuji, Director of Bars for EDITION, who leads the Punch concept strategy for the brand, comment “As a brand we’re looking at Punch as a spectrum with classics on one end, and more avant-garde (modern mixology applied to classic) recipe structures on the other. All the Punch rooms now at EDITION, located in London, Shanghai, Barcelona, and most recently in Madrid, will be focusing on different parts on that range.”

    Chapter 1: Johan
